Elysia Humphries  :  Naturopath - Nutritionist -  Clinic Founder

Elysia has a passion for health care and education. She has 17 years clinical experience working as a Naturopath in Brisbane. She created the Vibe Natural Health clinic with a view to providing clients with results based natural health care, within a friendly and personalised environment.

Her journey towards studying Naturopathy and Nutrition began as a teenager when she had to take months off school due to glandular fever and immune system problems. This came after a period of family stress and this lead her to realise the profound effect that stress can have upon wellbeing. Her family visited both doctors and naturopaths and with a combined treatment plan she recovered her good health and was inspired to study Naturopathy and help others on their journey toward better health.

Elysia is dedicated to health education and has presented health seminars for major corporations such as Telstra, Goodlife Health Clubs, school groups, mothers groups and organisations such as Rotary.  She contributes research and case studies for Australian functional pathology laboratories to help other Practitioners understand how to integrate lab results into treatment plans for clients that work and are "thinking outside the clinical box."  Her regular attendance at seminars and extra training programs keeps her in touch with the latest evidence based treatments and she is experienced at working in a team environment with GPs, Gynaecologists, Obstetricians, Osteopaths, Psychologists, Physiotherapists and other health care professionals.

Elysia believes that education is they key to good health and long term positive change. She will spend time with you, explaining the possible causes behind your symptoms and give you an easy to follow plan to improve your health. Your plan may include: dietary advice and recipes, stress management techniques, pathology testing, herbal medicine and / or nutritional supplements to get your health back on track.

Elysia is a "general practice" naturopath - treating many health conditions, but she has special interest in digestive health, allergy testing, nutrition, hormone health, fertility, sleep and stress management and helping people to boost energy after "burn out."

Elysia was a massage therapist before she became a Naturopath and learnt the importance of keeping the body flexible and moving well. This is why we have a strong focus on massage therapy at Vibe, as massage helps us to nurture the connection between our bodies and minds.

Ananda Mahony - Naturopath - Nutritionist

ananda_mahony_naturopath_brisbaneAs a Naturopath and Nutritionist I enjoy working with a wide range of clients across a varied range of conditions.  I enjoy working as a "general practice Naturopath," plus I have a special interest in treating skin problems and helping people experiencing chronic pain.  My expertise in treating skin conditions came from personally experiencing adult breakouts and chemically sensitive skin in my 20s despite already being a practicing naturopath. So I started by healing my own skin then I have focussed on skin problems with my clients and have successfully helped clients with chronic skin problems for over 10 years.

Over the last 3 years I have also been working extensively with clients experiencing chronic pain. My interest in pain management was born out of frustration that my clients were not getting good results using standard naturopathic and medical approaches, as well as an innate curiosity about what underpinned their pain and how to work more effectively with it. I ended up creating a program that addresses the complicated issues associated with pain and ultimately brings about positive change for many of my clients. Most of my clients arrive by referral – either from other health care professionals or previous clients who have had successful outcomes. Chronic pain is associated with a wide range of conditions including autoimmune conditions (rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis), digestive complaints (SIBO, IBS), hormonal conditions (endometriosis), functional issues (migraines, fibromyalgia, vulvodynia, irritable bladder), musculoskeletal problems and neuropathies.

I am passionate about keeping up to date with research and new approaches, and as a senior nutrition lecturer and student supervisor I am able to do this and support new nutritionists on their journey. I also enjoy embracing professional education. I studied Human Nutrition at a post-graduate level at Deakin University and 2 years ago shifted my focus to a Masters in the Science of Pain Management at Sydney University to align more closely with clinical practice.

Ananda can help you with:

Pain related conditions:

  • chronic pain
  • trauma or injury related pain

  • IBS, SIBO, dysbiosis and other digestive related issues

  • Standard and functional pathology testing

I am a member of the following associations:

The Australian Pain Society
International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP)
Naturopathic & Herbalists Association of Australia – an association promoting the registration of Naturopaths

I love food and nutrition however I take a very practical stance. I love to help people with ideas to incorporate local, sustainable and simple whole-foods rather than cutting out food groups unnecessarily. The food I serve at my table is based around these principles and I work with clients in the same way.

On a more personal note the most popular blog I have ever written was about my eyebrows and the process of growing them back after over-plucking (they will never fully recover). I am a nature and animal lover and on weekends can frequently be found in the garden with dirty nails because I can’t find my gloves, my standard poodle, two Bantam chooks and native bees buzzing around. I can successfully grow beautiful flowers but would soon starve if I had to live on produce from my veggie patch!

Angela Prest :  Naturopath - Nutritionist

I believe the expression of dis-ease or symptoms are reflections of what is happening inside the body – physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. By balancing the mind and body and achieving health and wellbeing, then, we can truly enjoy life.

Mother Nature provides us with what we need (from potent herbs to whole nutritious food), it’s a matter of being guided into the right direction. We need to listen to our body, as it will keep presenting things until we take notice and make positive changes. Change can be challenging, but so rewarding and I can help you every step of the way! I understand the importance of creating an open, caring space to facilitate healing.

For as long as I can remember I have always been interested in nature and food. I still recall helping my grandparents planting fresh herbs and vegetables in their vegie patch; then following grandma into the kitchen to help use the fresh food collected to make a hearty home cooked meal. Being surrounded by this from an early age sparked my interest into the food and health industry.

I started by studying a Bachelor of Health Science (Food Science and Nutrition) which was amazing, but I felt like something was still missing.

I was drawn to study a Naturopathy degree, and incorporate the following natural medicine healing principles into my practice:

  • The healing power of nature (the ability of the body to heal itself eg. wound healing)
  • Identify and treat the cause
  • Doctor as teacher
  • Treat the whole person
  • First do no harm
  • Prevention is better than cure

Angela can help you with:

  • Digestive imbalances - IBS, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Candida

I combine the ancient wisdom of traditional medicine, dating back thousands of years, with recent evidence-based knowledge. I am passionate about complementary medicine and attend regular professional seminars to be able to provide the best care possible.

I use a holistic approach to individualise a treatment plan, where by both symptoms and underlying causes are treated synergistically. I utilize modalities such as nutrition, therapeutic supplementation, western herbal medicine, flower essences, iridology and lifestyle counselling. Further specialist testing techniques are available and may be required to identify the cause and restore balance in the shortest possible time. These tests include hormone, food allergy, liver function, intestinal permeability, stool analysis (including parasite load), and vitamin status.

I enjoy educating clients to feel empowered and play an active role in their own health. I am committed to continually motivating clients until they have successfully reached the achievable goals and integrated them into their daily lives. I believe diet is the core foundation to our health and I enjoy sharing new recipe ideas utilising the wide variety of superfoods we now have available.

By working on preventative strategies together to reduce the risk of disease in the future, especially when there is a strong family history, is also important for long-term sustained health.

I believe that health is the greatest measure of how you are living your life, both internally and externally. It is influenced not only by the food you eat and the air you breathe; but also by the thoughts you think and choices you make every day. Your health is as individual as your fingerprints. It is a lifelong journey that only you will know - what feels right, what works for you and what doesn't. Your health is a constantly evolving part of who you are and requires patience, respect and unconditional love. I believe that dis-ease, in whatever form, is your body's way of speaking to you when something isn't right; and that part of our journey is learning to listen to what it has to say. Yes, changing your habits and your life in any way can be scary and yes it can be hard; but is it worth it? Absolutely. My philosophy embraces that perfection isn’t the goal when it comes to establishing great health. I believe that it’s all about finding the right balance for your life and about making choices to live a life of great health and happiness.

Reflecting on your current state of health is a great place to start your journey back to balance, great health and wellbeing:

  • Does your life feel balanced? Consider how much time you spend at work, in the company of people you love, being active, eating nourishing foods, sleeping well, relaxing, doing things you love - how are your life choices impacting your health and happiness?
  • Are you choices being made from a place of fear, guilt or duty; or from a place of love, joy and acceptance?
  • Are you displaying signs and symptoms of imbalance? Insomnia, weight gain, digestive problems, stress and anxiety?
  • Do you use food, TV, alcohol, etc to escape from things in your life that you don’t like or are too scared to face?
  • Do you feel well? When was the last time you remember feeling truly well - fantastic, full of energy, in love with your life, happy, balanced?

I look forward to helping you with your health.
