Marnie Poiner Physiotherapy North Brisbane


Marnie Poiner is a Physiotherapist in Grange, North Brisbane with a special interest in pelvic floor dysfunction and other women’s health specific conditions. Marnie is a passionate sexual health advocate with special interests in treating pelvic pain and sexual dysfunctions in adolescents and women. She treats a diverse range of pelvic floor related conditions including urinary and faecal incontinence, bladder and bowel management and pelvic organ prolapse conditions.

Marnie is a health enthusiast and enjoys being physically active in her spare time. She is a certified Pilates instructor for Mat, Reformer, and Trapeze table. She has a diverse exercise history having competed in two power lifting competitions and a triathlon in recent years. Marnie’s powerlifting experiences have helped her gain a strong musculoskeletal strength and conditioning background. Marnie prides herself on this combination of Women’s Health and Musculoskeletal education and can confidently treat both sporting injuries and pelvic floor conditions and often finds a cross over with both.

Along with Marnie’s love of doing physical exercise herself, she also loves to encourage others to fall in love with health and physical activity as well. She has a particular focus on maintaining physical fitness throughout pregnancy and assisting in rehabilitating the body and pelvic floor after birth so that you can get back to doing the activities you love the most.



What to expect from a Women’s Health Physiotherapy appointment

In depth history taking is imperative to your physiotherapy treatment plan. Ensuring that you feel as comfortable as possible to discuss your history with us is utmost important! Marnie has a calm and attentive nature that will put you at ease and allow you to feel secure in her care.

After a thorough discussion, Marnie will educate you on the potential causes of your symptoms and help you to understand the how and why of your condition and to better educate you on your own anatomy and bodily functions.

If indicated, Marnie will perform different objective assessments that might include questionnaires, body movements, muscle assessments and/or internal vaginal or rectal examinations. By performing these assessments, an informed treatment plan can be established and started.

Marnie will also (with your consent) keep your other medical providers involved in your treatment to ensure the best care for you, and the greatest outcome for your future can be achieved.
