How to treat a sick Gut – A Case Study

with Naturopath Sally Broadhurst

Discover how Natural Medicine can help improve your digestion and wellbeing.

Gut dysbiosis (a fancy word for imbalance) is becoming more and more commonplace in our fast paced world. Symptoms and the intensity of digestive imbalance can present differently in everyone depending on the level of damage and how long it’s been happening for.

There can be several contributing factors to the cause of gut dysbiosis. These can include:

  • Illness or infection like a gut bug or parasite
  • Toxin overload, overuse or misuse of medications, etc
  • Chronic stress
  •  Dysbiosis (imbalanced gut bacteria)
  • Nutritional deficiencies
  • Poor diet

It’s important to keep our intestinal lining healthy as it’s where we absorb our food and nutrients and block out nasties like bugs, which can lead to imbalanced gut bacteria and poor health. A consequence of prolonged gut damage happens when things that should stay within the intestines start to circulate in the rest of the body. This can trigger your immune system to try and fight things it’s not used to dealing with, potentially resulting in a number of health problems including (but not limited to):

  • Inflammation
  • Allergies
  • Food intolerances
  • Weight gain
  • Hormone problems
  • Thyroid problems
  • Digestive problems like chronic diarrhoea or constipation
  • Brain fog and fatigue
  • Candida overgrowth
  • Skin problems like acne, eczema and dermatitis
  • Pre-existing digestive conditions such as celiac disease

Sounds depressing, right? If you’ve tried everything and you’re still looking for answers to help you improve your digestive symptoms, a natural approach may prove useful to you. It’s important to seek advice from your doctor to rule out any major underlying causes for your symptoms. If you’ve done this, and your symptoms are still not improving, a Naturopath can help you to determine which is the best course of action to improve your health.

Sally will take you through a case study to show you what to expect from Naturopathic treatment for digestive concerns as well as discuss the most up to date testing options that can help to reveal exactly what is going on inside your digestive system. Sally will also have on offer some free tips and lifestyle suggestions to help start improving your digestive function immediately.
